Pietro Lista's Solo Exhibition
03/03/2017 - 22/04/2017
Aria Art Gallery is pleased to invite you to “Presenze”, a solo show by Pietro Lista, on the 3rd of March 2017, from 6:30pm, in Borgo SS Apostoli 40r, in Florence. The exhibition will be open until 22nd of April 2017.
Pietro Lista returns to the Tuscan capital to present his latest production, most of it never seen before. An exhibition born from the necessity of the artist to represent another way to occupy the space, a space that seems empty, but in which the traces of things, which have crossed it, remain. Paintings and sculptures intertwine in a net of references, as if they were complementary, as if the objects that occupied our space have left the canvas.
The rooms are barely sketched, made by few lines and give perspective, which is not the one of the eyes, but the one of the memory, as if these spaces bring the echo of the past time, of the people who went through them. Life left the track in Lista’s rooms, never cold, but warmed by the ones who have lived and breathed them.
Lista seems to take inspiration from the great torments and the great passions of the soul, which left its own trail on the carachters of his artworks, now in peace, calm. In his objects there’s a living and deep joy, a heartrending joy. The artworks within “Presenza” represent the latest part of Pietro Lista’s artistic path, always more oriented to a figurative reduction to a minimum.
The operation of subtraction made in the last artworks is the result of a consciousness, matured by more than fifty years of his career, that heads towards to a purification not only of the line, but even of the pictorial space, in its tendence to the essential.
Born in Castiglione del Lago (PG), the artist, after his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, moved his first steps in the field of Arte Povera. In 1968 he is one of the artist partecipating to “Arte Povera + Azioni Povere” an art exhibition curated by Germano Celant. During the same period he assembled the theatral group Artaud, making several happenings. These performative experiences laid the foundations for a deep knowledge of the body and its interactions with space, that we can find in whole his career. After he exhibited in VIII Paris Biennale and in the X Quadriennale d’Arte in Rome, in ’80s and ’90s he exhibited in important solo and group shows in Italy and Europe, with the presentation of elite figures from the art world, like Filiberto Menna, Renato Barilli and Achille Bonito Oliva.
