Pietro Lista was born in Castiglione del Lago, Perugia, in 1941. He attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples with Emilio Notte, Giovanni Brancaccio, Vincenzo Ciardo and Mario Colucci. He began to exhibit since 1960 in Italy and abroad. In this years, he has frequented Neapolitan avant-garde environments. In 1965 he participated in a collective presented by Giulio Carlo Argan at the “Cine Club” in Naples. In 1968 he was present at the exhibition Amalfi Arte povera + Poor Actions cured by Germano Celant. In 1970 he opened the Taide Gallery in Salerno. The exhibition space is the venue for meeting and confronting one of the most important Salernitan intellectuals of the time such as Alfonso Gatto, Filiberto Menna, Achille Bonito Oliva, becoming one of the most vibrant and interesting cultural spaces of the ’70s. In 1975 he exhibited in the XXI Quadriennale d’Arte in Rome. In 1983, with the presentation of Renato Barilli, Maria Di Domenico and Filiberto Menna, he held a personal at the Trans / Form in Paris and in that same year he was with the collective Pole Position at the Galerie K in Tokyo. In 1993 he founded the MMMAC in Paestum Museum of Contemporary Art Minimal Materials confirming a tireless diffuser of contemporary art. In 2004, the Province of Salerno dedicated him an anthology to celebrate his forty years of work as an artist. It is included in the History of Contemporary Art curated by Giorgio Di Genova for the Bora Bora editions.
