TIMELESSNESS

28/09/2024 - 16/11/2024

“The past is the future turned upside down. Timelessness is a blinding light that erases the mere description of both past and future.”

Elio D’Anna

On the occasion of the 33rd International Biennial of Antiques in Florence, Aria Art Gallery and Frascione Gallery present Timelessness, an exhibition that transcends the boundaries of space and time, enriching both ancient and contemporary masterpieces with new meanings. Running from September 28 to November 16, 2024 Timelessness will feature approximately 30 works, which will be displayed throughout the exhibition spaces of Aria Art Gallery and the European School of Economics, the official partner of the BIAF.

The past and the future are the representation of this precise, infinite instant. Even a work of art created centuries ago is rediscovered and reinterpreted according to the principles of our time, attributed by experts who place it in a space-time shaped by the experience and understanding that have brought us to this moment. Likewise, the future is shaped and projected by the artist, as well as by each individual, through the actions performed in the present. The ‘Here and Now’ becomes for the artist the only authentic time, the basis on which he creates works that escape time, spreading out in all directions until they become timeless objects, capable of speaking to the whole of humanity.  With this approach, the exhibition brings together different epochs, works and artists to offer the public new interpretations and meanings.

This latest edition of the Timelessness project, first conceived in 2015 in conjunction with the 29th International Biennial of Antiques in Florence, presents an exhibition structured around distinct thematic areas. These themes, addressed by contemporary artists in dialogue with masters of the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries, will unfold in the exhibition spaces of Aria Art Gallery and the European School of Economics. The central themes will include: Architecture, Portraits, Still Life, Battles, and Saint John the Baptist, patron saint of the city of Florence.
