Aria Art Gallery is pleased to present two new works by Carole A. Feuerman and an installation by Andrea Guastavino at the collective exhibition Personal Structure – Crossing Borders, an official collateral exhibition of the 56th Venice Biennale at Palazzo Mora until November 22, 2015 .
Carole A. Feuerman exhibits two large works in the garden at the entrance to Palazzo Mora, whose titles are Leda and the swan and DurgaMa.
Leda and the Swan recalls the mythological context. It is based on the Greek myth in which Zeus, disguised as a swan, seduces Leda, born of Elena of Troy. The female figure lying down, relaxes her body against the inflatable swan, in an elegant curve that moves from neck to tail of the swan. Leda is both strong and calm, wearing a swimsuit and a vintage bathrobe.
DurgaMa is an ascending beauty that represents the cycle of existence. The lotus symbolizes revival and spiritual awakening. The meditative figure sitting on the open lotus flower speaks to the purity of the inner vision of the artist. The strong lotus stem rises twelve inches, over the dirty water, then flourishes. It represents the journey of the soul, from the mud of materialism to the radiant light of the illumination. DurgaMa is crucified in this light.
Andrea Guastavino presents a new installation made of lanterns, photos and sounds, the title is Navigare Necesse Est.
During his journey, he has crossed lanterned fields. He bartered the price of those blind and rusty eyes for the flame of the burning memory, in search of the fire of those who passed before. His imperfect backward journey is an attempt to recapture the memories that do not belong to him, a time past that he would like to repeat himself or simply continue to exist in the present.
