With the exhibition “Lo sport del bellessere” in full winter Maravee staged the taste of summer, declining the concept of therapy in a positive way of living. It is inhabited by reassuring swimmers and bathers with the skin covered with microscopic drops of sweat, a figure of sporty women, in full health, from the hinted smiles and the half-open eyes, with colorful costumes that transmit a joyful serenity. For the first time in Friuli Venezia Giulia, the artistic director of Maravee presents the work of Carole Feuerman, an American artist among the most renowned and popular hyperrealist sculptors in the world, with works in museums such as the Metropolitan of New York and the Hermitage of St. Petersburg, but also in private collections such as those of Bill Clinton, Michail Gorbachev and the Emperor of Japan.
Protagonists at Palazzo Elti are the sculptures that have given the greatest notoriety and, in 2008, the first prize at the Beijing Biennale: figures related to water, bathers and swimmers born from experiences profoundly lived by the artist in the physical and emotional sense. The daughters of tactile art, full of sensuality, tied to an imaginary mix of form and desire in which hyperrealism invades Pop Art, enriching it with craftsmanship and material studies, its figures are so “alive” to give feelings that breathe. Because attention to the body, observed with maniacal dedication to the detail and the tones of the incarnate, pours into the analysis of human flesh to translate it into the sensation, weight and consistency of the epidermis. It is no coincidence, therefore, if the particular technique used by Feuerman directly involves the person portrayed, from which a first silicone and a second plaster were obtained, then molded with a resin rich in painting and meticulous details to reach all the connotated finished work from helpless, freckles and hair implanted one by one.
