Szymon Oltarzewski was born in Lesko, Poland in 1977. His career started in 1996 when “Beta”, a publishing agency in Gliwice decided to sponsor his drawings and paintings. From 1999 to 2002, Oltarzewski worked under the sculptor Marek Spiewla while he studied with Witold Berus where he was taught how to draw nature and learned about the great masters of art history. In 2002, he graduated from the University of Opole with a degree in Environmental Engineering, and moved to Pietrasanta in Italy the year after. After having studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Carrara, he collaborated with Antonio Luchinelli for “Study on Form”, which brought him in contact with many other great sculptors. He started working with Aria Art Gallery in 2009 where he during the same year had his first solo exhibition titled “Non Toccare” at the gallery in Pietrasanta. He became a member of the Royal British Society of Sculpture in 2010, and is currently living and working in Pietrasanta.
